Cal Palurdo
The set of homes in Castellar del Vallès presents the typical characteristics of bourgeois architecture from the beginning of the century, with all the stylistic elements of the time. It consists of a group of three houses of the same structure with a ground floor and a main floor. They have two openings per floor. It presents the incorporation of ornamentation and decoration elements inscribed on the façades. The openings on the upper floor have floral reliefs, typical of the plastic sense of the time, inscribed in the middle of the upper part of the span. In the balconies we can also appreciate the presence of floral motifs in the bars and in the lower part distributed symmetrically above the openings of the lower floor, in the form of small corbels formed by groups of leaves in relief that want to represent elements of support. The architectural ensemble presents a sense of unity and coherence.1910

Cal Blanquer
Casa Blanquer responds to Catalan Art Nouveau parameters. The façade presents a symmetrical solution, marking the axis of the entrance door. In each corner we can find two windows surrounded by a frame of undulating lines with a clear modernist effect, and the decoration is completed by a quilting of ashlars arranged in an alternating manner. Floral motifs adorn the door and windows. Above the door, there is a shield with the owner's initials: Blai Blanquer. At ground level, two windows translate the presence of the basement into the façade. The tile features a profile of undulating lines mixed with wrought iron decoration with geometric motifs. The façade is located at street level due to an uneven ground, and from the exit area the distribution of the floors changes. The basement is the ground floor, the house itself is on the first floor and the attic above. The master builder who carried out the building was Mr. Puig. The house was built at the beginning of the 20th century for Blai Blanquer, owner of the mill in Fontscalents (Castellar) from 1900 to 1928. When leaving this industry, Francesc Blanquer, son of the previous one, created Fontscalents, the first printing house in Castellar: "Gràfiques F. Blanquer”. -

Castellar del Vallès Cemetry
62. The Castellar del Vallès Cemetery stands as an architectural witness within the different styles that were carried out in the city, always, however, on a small scale. On the other hand, these are also a symbolic and psychological proof of a period in the history of architecture which goes from romantic neoclassicism to the postmodernist limits. The Castellar del Vallès Cemetery responds to the latest trend, in which we find the last examples of monumental tombs next to the rows of niches. The funerary elements in this period abandon their triumphalism and show us the loss of life and the persistance of memory. The entrance seems to imitate the French models of avenues and gardens. The pantheon chapels seem to pass from floral naturalism to a cyclopean structure. The entrance to the cemetery is reminiscent of the French avenues and post-romantic gardens. This cemetery maintains a naturalistic evocation of imitations of French models. The characteristics of the pantheons entail the transformation and amalgamation of artistic aspects that encompass the total decoration, in every detail. The project of the entrance is the work of Antoni de Falguera Sivilla. It was made in 1916. The pantheon tombs are from the 1920s. Urban cemeteries emerged from the second half of the 19th century.1914 - 1925

Castellar Apartments
It is a building with eighteen apartments, commercial premises and a garage, located on the corner of a street that leads to the Plaça Major de Castellar de Vallès. The position of the stairs - and the commercial valuation of the chamfer on the ground floor - requires some adjustments to be made in the type of housing. The façade is solved with exposed brick given that the work had to be done with a very low budget.1970

Castellar del Vallès Primary Healthcare Centre
Charmaine Lay, Carles Muro i Soler, Joaquim Rosell i Gratacòs
The building takes up the model strictly determined by the ordinances and interprets the program of a primary healthcare centre while dividing it into two parts on either side of the entrance. The part occupied by the healthcare areas is developed extensively from a basic unit, made up of a consultation room, an infirmary, a waiting room and a patio. The set of two units forms an area which can be identified by the colour of the patios. The roof reflects the distribution of the plant and indicates the entrances of air and light. On the other side of the entrance, the rest of the program is located compactly and occupies two floors.1995 - 1999
