Els Toldos Factory

This mansion is made up of different sections where the old textile factory is also located. The structure of the house is reminiscent of a medieval castle due to the use of turrets, barbicans, battlements on the upper ends of the walls... It has a central body which is higher than the rest, with a large coat of arms and a niche with a sculpture above it. There is also a chimney in the shape of a human figure. It is built with exposed brick and stone. The house belonged to the Ventura family, owners of the adjoining factory "Los Toldos", where awnings and boat sails were made. -

The park is structured through two types of routes: those responsible for direct connectivity between the city and the park and those that organise the routes through the landscape, linking the different seating areas to reach the most significant points. The diversity of routes can also be explained by the diversity of materials that make them up. Each type of pavement corresponds to a different route with a different function within the intervention. Urban connectivity routes are made with materials of mineral origin. The routes specific to the upper part of Turó del Sastre Park are defined with materials of plant origin.2006 - 2008

The project takes advantage of the peri-urban condition of the site and the 18 m height difference between the streets to divide the building and provide the three new volumes with galleries, introducing green space between them to improve their views, exposure to the sun and cross ventilation. To reduce earthworks in a terrain with several rocky strata, the project proposes an upper building with a 4.20 m cantilever that minimises foundations.2009 - 2017
