Refurbishment and extension of a villa from the 50s in a residential area.
The scale of the neighbouring buildings and the restrictions of the regulations on a narrow site gave the necessary clues to tackle the refurbishment project. Beyond the starting rectangular volume, little evidence remains of the original house.
The gabled roof is removed from the original house and an attic floor and a gallery of light construction facing the garden are added.
The narrowness of the volume is compensated in the lateral façades with out-of-scale windows with adjustable slats, bringing natural light and privacy to the centre of the house. Protagonist of the interior, the staircase visually links the different rooms.
The attached garage frames the garden next to a pool raised in the form of a plinth-seat and an outdoor room with a pergola. Another pergola frames the front door of the house.
On the ground floor, the gallery-dining room opens onto the garden, while the living room is sheltered from the street. On the upper floors, the master bedroom and an office are located in the new volumes. Finally, the finial-lattice protects the attic terrace from the façade to the street, turning it into an open-air room.
