This set of enormous dimensions is intended for the rehabilitation of injured workers, with the possibility of attending them in a boarding system, for cases of temporary disability and for the recovery for external workers whose injuries do not prevent travel.
The recovery centre takes up the best location on the land. It is located on the ledge of the Plana de Can Genís, on the south side of the mountain. The buildings have practically no north façade and the Plana remains free. All the outbuildings enjoy south orientation, sunshine and panoramic sea views, placed on a series of stepped levels on the hillside.
Despite being a sloping site, the project manages to group all the activities of the "total cycle of the daily life of the workers" on the main floor. This minimises the vertical displacements of the internals. In addition, by locating the access to the centre on this same level, visitors or external users can carry out all their visits on this same floor, without interfering with the living areas.
The centre is located in a natural environment that, together with the climate, the sunshine, the silence and the sea views, contribute to the therapeutic function of the complex, which integrates large, gardened walking areas. It comprises different areas: areas of natural forest with Mediterranean flora, a recovery area with large areas of grass and plantings, as well as massifs of spring-flowering plants and shrubs, a sports area and a recreation area for mass use on public holidays with stepped terraces, shade, barbecues, benches and outdoor worktables. The different areas are connected by a private road, by paths and ramps and, in addition, by a cable car that connects the recovery centre and the sports and recreation areas.
